Internet Marketing Knowledge

The truth is, people within the Internet marketing industry only really know what you tell them. Therefore, it is critically important that you understand this before you get started. To the extent you want to preserve some degree of privacy, or you’re interested in protecting some of the niche markets which you feel could potentially be very lucrative for you, then you need to realize that keeping your mouth shut could potentially be a virtue.

You also need to realize that there is a tremendous opportunity being offered few to network and interact with other people who are also interested in generating an income from the Internet. Therefore, you also need to recognize that there will be situations where it makes sense to be open and honest with others and to speak freely about whatever it is you happen to be working on. This can be very beneficial for both you and the other individual.

However, you need to be mindful of the fact that many people will try to get information from you in an effort to steal whatever niche market advantage you may have been able to develop as a result of doing your own independent research. Therefore, it really make sense to carefully evaluate whether or not you are truly interested in making the most amount of money possible or if you’re just interested in bragging potentially making a few superficial friends who don’t really care about you or your success.

Networking for Newbie’s

If you’ve been following my articles on how to set up a Word Press blog, you’ll now be ready to adjust a few settings, make your permalinks ‘pretty’ and have a general clean up. The Word Press dashboard can appear a little bit daunting when you first look inside, but you’ll soon get the hang of it.

The first thing you need to do is to log into Word Press and go to your Dashboard. We’re now going to tidy up your ‘general settings’ so scroll down the list on your left until you come to the word ‘settings’ and click on it – this opens you’re ‘general settings’ page.

Here you need to enter your blog title, i.e. the name of your blog (mine is just ‘Louise Marsden’) and a tag line (what your blog is about), replace the default email with your current email address, fill in the rest as you require and click ‘save changes’.

Go back to the ‘settings’ section left hand side bar and this time you need to scroll down a little look for the heading ‘permalinks’.

[Permalinks are the permanent URLs to your individual blog posts, as well as categories and other lists of blog postings. A permalink is what another people will use to link to your article, or how you might send a link to your post in an e-mail message. The URL to each post should be permanent, and never change - hence permalink.]

Niche Research

Doing niche research is the first step to a successful internet marketing campaign. Any one who is looking to make money on the internet with products needs a targeted campaign. The chances of you picking a product at random and finding a successful way to market it without doing research is very, very slim to none.

I am sure you have tried to get a campaign going, doing everything that you thought you needed to do. You even picked what you thought was a hot product. Honestly now, how much research did you actually put into it? A few hours, a day maybe. Did you search for more than keywords that would possibly work? Did you take the time to look and see how many other websites were out there with that particular product or niche? If you didn’t you probably didn’t have a campaign that was very successful at all. Doing the niche research and really digging into what numbers and statistics you need for a success is something that can make a great bit of difference between a steady campaign and one that only has a sale every once in awhile.

Now I know what you are thinking? Niche research? Sounds complicated and time consuming. Well it can be time consuming but it is not really all that complicated once you learn what numbers and such you need to look for. It is a lot like doing keyword research and looking for numbers around five thousand in order to get a good ranking with it. You want the same kind of numbers for your niche, though you will want to check with websites as well and make sure that there are already not so many of them that no one would be able to find yours for all the others out there.

The thing about niches is that you can chisel them down until you get the numbers that you need. For instance; let’s say you are marketing a dog collar. If you do the research you will find hundreds of thousands of websites out there with dog collars. However, if you put in large or extra large dog collars the numbers will go down a bit. Next take it a little bit farther and use something like chain collars for extra large dogs. The chances are that you will still get a lot of traffic with this and it will be very specific traffic and therefore more likely to buy the collar. That is the point of niche research.

Solid Internet Traffic Is Vital

Don’t be on the failing end of internet lead generation statistic that show websites without solid internet traffic are doomed to fail. There is information circulating the net that states the probability of successfully earning an income online is only accomplished by about 10% of those who set out to realize the dream of earning an income from home. Despite the truly earnest efforts by thousands of fledgling internet marketers, the grim reality is that the odds are stacked against you. Knowledge is power, though, and by empowering yourself with the knowledge of what leads to online failure you are securing your spot as one of the successful internet marketers to earn an income online.

So what constitutes as solid traffic? Simply put, it is traffic that is representative of consumers that have a valid interest in the product or service offered by your website. Although there are methods of internet traffic generation that can lead to a high number of visitors, not all methods deliver high quality traffic. Traffic exchanges, for example, are capable of generating numerous visitors to your website. The majority of those visiting your site, however, have very little interest in your web content or what you have to offer. The reality is that they are more interested in gathering points to earn hits on their own website. If you are using traffic exchanges to generate traffic, please note that internet lead generation statistics show a higher rate of long term success on sites that contain a lead capture box.

There are other methods of generating traffic that lead to a much more responsive group of visitors. One of the most responsive methods of lead generation is the consistent posting of articles and blogs, which has both short term and long term effects. Although the short term effect happens more quickly, the long term result is far more profitable. Internet lead generation statistics show that both the short term and long term effects are much more profitable when combined with a lead capture page.

The most immediate response gained from blog posting is the acquisition of visitors who have an interest in your product and believe in it before they even visit your website. When readers believe in the article or blog post they are reviewing, they have a sense of trust for the site to which they are pointed by clicking on a hyperlink within the post. This level of trust makes them more willing to buy, or at least give up their name and email for future contact.
